About this Race
The Acea Run Rome The Marathon takes runners on an unforgettable journey through the heart of the Eternal City. Starting at Via dei Fori Imperiali in the shadow of the Colosseum, the looped course winds past some of the world's most iconic landmarks — the Pyramid of Cestius, Castel Sant'Angelo, St. Peter's Basilica, and the Lungotevere. Roughly ten percent of the course features Rome's characteristic sampietrini cobblestones, adding a unique texture to the race. With a total elevation gain of just 56 metres the course is relatively flat, though the cobbled sections and technical turns demand concentration. The finish at the ancient Circo Massimo provides a spectacular climax against a backdrop of Roman ruins. The electric atmosphere, musical stations and enormous crowd support make this one of Europe's most memorable marathon experiences.
